August 11, 2014

So yeah, I’m one of the Vapers. Vapees? Vapoids? Yeah I’m going with Vapoids. That’s the new hip term, I’m calling it.

If you take anything away from this strip, it’s This:

Ploopy_webThangyew and goodnight.

Wonder Woman Commission
October 5, 2011

I got hired by a father to do a Wonder Woman commission piece for his 5 year old daughter.
I started out by sketching this in my 8.5 x 11 sketchbook, but wasn’t happy with the face and some of the hair.

So on a separate page, I sketch, like 5 more faces until I created one I was happy with. I’m particularly happy with the very Greek nose, and the look in her eyes, which I wanted to say “Really?? You’re shooting at me with bullets? You’s a dummy!”

I then took that face and the body sketch and merged them together in Photoshop, then printed that out and lightboxed the whole image onto a sheet of 11×17 Bristol Board.

I then inked over those pencils with Windsor Newton Series 7 brushes and some Micron pens until I got this:

About 3 hours and change of coloring in Photoshop, I was done!

Now I just hope the client is happy with it!!

Supergirl/Batgirl commission

So here’s a commissioned piece, he wanted Supergirl and Batgirl in the Bruce Timm “animated style”.. Did the first sketch but he wanted something more action-y..

New Ultimate Spidey Costume
April 19, 2011

Saw this new costume yesterday and immediately wanted to draw it. Need to buy much thinner pens! Took forever to ink that negative space web pattern..would be tons easier on the Wacom using layers

Dick Grayson!
April 19, 2011

I always liked the original Robin.. Was inspired to draw this up after flipping through Robin:Year One

April 17, 2011

Took a page from the Chris Samnee book of inking with this one.. He has a tendency with his sketches to only draw the shadows and blacks. Thought I would try it here!

April 4, 2011

Doing some more facial studies.. I still don’t think they look quite like the actual women they’re based on, but I’m happy with the ink work.. Damn I love this brush

Tori Amos
April 2, 2011

So, I’m just trying to work on my portrait works. I’ve had a lot of trouble getting my people to actually look like who they’re supposed to!!

This one was sketched out in pencil then inked with brush and some quill work for the hair.

Underneath that is a simple pencil sketch of Tori..
